These computers are specially prepared for young children aged 2–10 and are designed
to be a safe, educational learning tool for your child’s bedroom or play area. Each
device includes GCompris — a trusted educational suite that teaches early skills such
as reading, numbers, memory, and problem-solving.
Devices also include parent-controlled screen-time settings so you can choose exactly
when the computer may be used.
Why We Recommend Desktops
We mainly provide desktop computers. For young children, desktops offer several benefits:
- Larger monitors — easier on young eyes
- Faster performance — smoother educational activities
- More durable — less likely to be dropped or damaged
- Fixed location — helps create healthy screen-use habits
We do have some laptops, but they may come without a working battery or with minor issues,
so they are generally used while plugged in. Desktops provide a more reliable experience

Charity Connect
This section of our e-store is exclusively for charities and NFPs supporting disadvantaged families and those facing serious hardship.
As part of our Tech 4 Kids – Devices for Bright Futures initiative, we are offering a limited number of devices free of charge. These must go to children whose families are experiencing hardship, such as domestic violence, homelessness, or serious medical conditions.
Our goal is to support children’s learning and ease the burden of educational needs on families in crisis.
Conditions to Apply
This initiative is funded by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, giving C4L a limited number of free devices to share. To ensure fairness, each organisation may apply for one free device.
You can still access discounted devices through our other e-store categories.

- Because our senior veterans tend to prefer desktop computers, they will go to the front of the line when we are allocating the computers. However, we don’t want to exclude anyone who needs a computer, so if you are not over 65, please tell us how a free computer would help you.
- When you receive your free computer we would also like you to provide a short testimonial acknowledging C4L and the Kedron-Wavell Community Grant. We respect your privacy, and you may remain anonymous if you wish.
