Turning it On and Off
Step 1: Powering On
Press the power button (top right corner of keyboard). The system will boot directly to the Home screen.
Step 2: Accessing Power Options
Click the Menu icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Step 3: Shutting Down
Click the green Power button, then select “Shut Down”.
The Panel
The Panel is your central hub, similar to the Windows Taskbar or MacOS Dock.
Step 1: Left Side Shortcuts
Includes Menu, Desktop toggle, Chrome, File Manager, and Terminal.
Step 2: Right Side System Icons
Displays WiFi, Volume, Battery, Updates, and Time.
Connecting to WiFi
Step 1: Select WiFi Icon
Click the network icon on the right side of the panel.
Step 2: Choose Network
Select your local network from the list and enter your password.
Change the Password
Default password is: ChangeMe
Step 1: Open Control Panel
Double-click the Control Panel icon on your desktop.
Step 2: User Manager
Click “Lite User Manager”, then select “Change Password”.
Step 3: Authenticate
Enter the existing password to confirm the changes.
The File Manager & USB Drives
Step 1: Open File Manager
Click the folder icon on the panel to view your documents and photos.
Step 2: USB Drives
When plugged in, the File Manager opens automatically. Always use the Eject icon before removing.
Deleting Folders or Files
Step 1: Deletion Options
Right-click a file to “Move to Trash” (recoverable) or “Delete” (permanent).
Step 2: Restoring from Trash
Open Trash on the desktop, right-click your file, and select “Restore”.
Step 3: Emptying Trash
Right-click the desktop Trash icon and select “Empty Trash” to clear space.
Adding a Printer
Step 1: Access Printer Settings
Navigate to Menu > Settings > Printers.
Step 2: Add Device
Click “Add”, select “Network Printer” (for WiFi) or your cabled printer from the list.
Step 3: Driver Selection
Follow the prompts to select your printer manufacturer and model.
Step 4: Finalize and Test
Apply settings and print a test page to confirm connectivity.
The Webcam
Launch Webcam Booth in the Multimedia group. If the webcam stops working after an update, refer to the Webcam_fix.txt file in your Documents folder.
Updating the System
We recommend checking for updates once a month.
Step 1: Check Updates
Click the update icon in the panel and select “Install Updates”.
Step 2: Authentication
Enter your password to authorize the installation.
Step 3: Perform Update
Click “Update Now” and wait for the process to finish.
System Backup
Step 1: Personal Backups
Use the Backups app in Accessories to save your personal files to an external drive.
Step 2: Restore Files
Open the app, click Restore, and select your backed-up documents.
Step 3: System Restore (Timeshift)
Use “System Restore Utility” to keep a weekly snapshot of the entire system.
